Bitumen

Bitumen 40/60 is petroleum grade bitumen, manufactured from fractional/ vacuum distillation of crude oil and it is specified by the penetration and softening point test. Furthermore, it has a thermoplastic property which causes the material to soften at high temperatures and to harden at lower temperatures. This unique temperature/ viscosity relationship is important when determining the performance parameters such as the adhesion, rheology, durability, and application temperatures of bitumen.

Bitumen 60/90 is one of the most used bitumen grades and it is also a basic material for all other bituminous products. Furthermore, bitumen 60/90 mode is dependent on temperature. It is temperature and stiffness relationship are dependent on the type of crude oil and its refining method. Bitumen 60/90 is a semi hard penetration grade bitumen used as a paving grade bitumen which is suitable for road construction and repair. It is also used to produce asphalt pavements, manufacturing of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses

Application
1. Semi-hard penetration grade (40/60) mostly used: - Road construction. - Asphalt pavement. - Manufacturer of hot-mix asphalt. 2. The penetration bituminous asphalt with high penetration numbers which are soft, mostly used in cold weather conditions. 3. Hard bituminous asphalt with low penetration number, can be used for warm weather conditions.
Characteristics
A pure petroleum grade bitumen, manufactured from vacuum bottom by passing hot air. It is produced from remain of crude oil after cracking and removing hydrocarbon. It is softening point is between 48-56 ℃. Has thermoplastic property, which is like synthetic resin material, gets softer with heating and hardens when cooled. Specified by the penetration and softening point test. The temperature and stiffness relationship of bitumen are dependent on the source of crude oil and the method of refining.
Packaging
Commonly packed in new steel drums 150, 180 and 220 kg barrels. - 1MT, 500 kg jumbo bags. - 300 kg bit bag.

Application
Used to impregnate the macadam road in regions with warm climate. Used for preparation of hot asphalt and bituminous mixtures in regions with warm climate. For producing asphalt primer and waterproofing products. It is also applicable to produce hot mix asphalt for bases, pavements, and road construction. For making some bitumen emulsion, cutback bitumen and modified bitumen grades.
Characteristics
High flexibility at low temperature. Resistant to climatic influences. It is usually used for hot mix especially in moderate climate.
